November 2019 End of Watch Monthly Update

October 2019 - 8 Officers Down

The end of October brings the beginning of the holiday season. October kicks things off with family and friends getting together for Halloween parties. November brings the family together around the table a few weeks later for Thanksgiving dinner. And then, we gather with friends, family, and coworkers for Christmas parties and New Years get-togethers. During this time we make new friends and reconnect with old ones. We reminisce on old times and make new memories. Together as family, whether related or not, these times are most valuable and priceless.

October left our family in blue with eight officers down. The families of these officers will have a lot to overcome in the upcoming weeks. Please know we are here. In this family, no one fights alone. People all over this country come together each month to honor the fallen and show those still on watch that they are not alone.

Cherish the time you have with one another. Whether you’re a law enforcement officer or the family of one, remember that each moment is a gift. Everyday is a roll of the dice of who we come in contact with and the intentions they have that day. Be thankful for each day you come home safely. And pray for those who didn’t.

If you would like to join the End of Watch Foundation in our monthly End of Watch Memorial Ruck (EOWMR), it’s really simple! Just throw some weight in your ruck and put in the miles. The suggested weight is 20 pounds, as this represents the average weight of duty gear an officer carries on a daily basis. The goal mileage is one mile per officer. You can adjust your weight and miles to your current fitness goals.

If you would like to start a monthly EOWMR in your area please reach out to us by following the link below. We will be in touch with you shortly to see how we can help you get that started.
