2020 Police Week Challenge

2020 Police Week Challenge

In honor of Peace Officer Memorial Day and Police Week, we challenge you to ruck some miles in honor of our fallen law enforcement officers and in support of those still on watch.

Challenge Levels

Patrol Class

Patrol Class is the entry level pledge at 14 miles. These miles are representative of the average number of line of duty deaths (LODD) per month over the last 5 years. - This means that almost every other day an officer dies in the line of duty. You can ruck these miles as a way of recognizing the risks officers face on a daily basis and a way of saying, “Thank You,” for putting the uniform on each day.

Sergeant Class

Sergeant Class is the next level pledge at 20 miles. Each mile of this class is for a fallen officer in the month of April 2020. Participants of this class are keeping alive the monthly mission to honor the fallen month to month throughout the year. We encourage you to read the bios of the fallen before you put in the miles so you know what each mile is for.

Lieutenant Class

Lieutenant Class is the highest miles pledge at 56. This is the current year to date (as of April 30th) line of duty deaths for 2020. We highlight this number to bring awareness to the staggering number of line of duty deaths. We encourage you to read the bios of the fallen before you put in the miles so you know what each mile is for.

About 2020 Police Week Challenge

While the COVID-19 pandemic has postponed our annual End of Watch Memorial Ruck, which normally takes place during Police Week, we couldn’t let Peace Officer Memorial Day go by without doing something to honor and support our law enforcement officers.

We have three classes you can choose to pledge miles to: Patrol Class, Sergeant Class, and Lieutenant Class. While you can ruck a single class, we challenge you to work your way up through the ranks. Each class will have progressively more miles dedicated to officers in different ways. It’s up to you to fulfill your pledge either all at once or spread throughout the month of May.

During your miles, we hope that you contemplate the sacrifices these officers made and celebrate how great a blessing it is to live in the land of the free because of the brave.

We hope to hold the annual EOWMR in early October. To stay up to date on upcoming events, products and ways you can help, subscribe to our newsletter and YouTube, and like us on Facebook.
